Paul began this chapter by using rhetorical questions of whether he was free and whether he was an apostle. Paul’s rhetorical questions indicate that those Corinthians who opposed him might have challenged his apostleship.

    In this chapter of Paul’s epistle to the Corinthians, we learn that a controversy had arisen among the Corinthian believers. The issue was whether Christians should eat meat that had been offered to idols.
